His Royal Highness Chief Godwill Akedesuo, Acting Amananaowei of Amassoma, has publicly denounced the brutal killing of Patrick Peresuodei and formally declared the suspected assailant, Mr. Bodmas Prince Kemepadei, an enemy of the Amassoma community.
Addressing journalists, HRH Akedesuo described the death of Peresuodei — a promising young son of Amassoma — as a “gruesome, unacceptable and highly disrespectful” attack on the community’s peace, unity and dignity. He said the killing violates the long-standing culture of hospitality and tolerance for which Amassoma is known.
According to the monarch, Bodmas Kemepadei is a graduate of Niger Delta University who lived in Amassoma during his studies, later pursuing a Master’s degree in Religious Studies at the same institution. “Despite the warmth and goodwill extended to him by Amassoma people, he is alleged to have repaid that kindness with violence by beating a youth of Amassoma to death,” HRH Akedesuo said, calling the act “painful and unforgivable.”
HRH Akedesuo lamented a pattern of fatal incidents involving outsiders and residents of neighboring communities, noting repeated losses of innocent Amassoma lives over minor disputes. He declared that the era of tolerance for such injustices is over and pledged that the community will pursue legal remedies until justice is achieved.
The Acting Amananaowei called on the communities of Koluama 1 in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area and Agoro in Sagbama Local Government Area — identified as Bodmas’s places of origin — to produce and hand over Mr. Kemepadei to authorities. He warned that if the suspect is not surrendered, Amassoma will take further lawful steps to protect its people and secure justice.
In a firm directive, the monarch ordered that anyone in Amassoma associated with Bodmas Kemepadei in criminal, cultic or idol-related activities withdraw immediately; failure to do so will result in being declared an enemy of the community and facing corresponding consequences. He emphasized that any person implicated in the killing, irrespective of status or affiliation, will be prosecuted, and that the community holds “clear and credible evidence.”
HRH Akedesuo confirmed that a formal petition has been submitted to the Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police through the community’s legal representatives. The Nigeria Police Force has accordingly declared Bodmas Kemepadei and members of his alleged gang wanted.
The Amassoma Community vowed to stand with the family of the deceased and to pursue the matter through legal channels to its logical conclusion. In view of ongoing legal steps, HRH Akedesuo urged the Amassoma Youth Development Association (AYODA) Worldwide and its Yenagoa chapter to suspend a planned protest to the Commissioner of Police, assuring youths and the public that the community is committed to a thorough investigation and timely public updates.
HRH Akedesuo closed by thanking external bodies, individuals and organizations that have expressed concern and offered support, and he called on all stakeholders to remain law-abiding as collective efforts to secure justice continue.
Signed:
HRH Chief Godwill Akedesuo
Acting Amananaowei, Amassoma Community
