Bayelsa State Government yesterday extended condolences to the family of the late Patrick Peresuodei of Amassoma in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, pledging to work with security agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Commissioner for Youth Development Alfred Kemepado led a condolence visit to the Peresuodei family home, where he met with bereaved relatives, including the late youth’s elderly and ailing parents. In a somber address at the family residence, Kemepado described the death of the young man as a shocking and tragic loss for the family, the Amassoma community, and the state.
“This is a very unfortunate and tragic loss,” the commissioner said, expressing the government’s deep sorrow and strong condemnation of the circumstances surrounding the death. He emphasized that the Diri administration remains committed to protecting lives and upholding law and order, adding that “there is no place for unlawful and barbaric acts” in Bayelsa. “No one has the right to take another person’s life in any guise,” he said, promising that the state will not tolerate actions that disrupt public peace.
Kemepado assured the family that the state government is collaborating closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure all individuals involved in the incident are identified and prosecuted. He reiterated the administration’s determination to safeguard community safety and to pursue justice transparently and swiftly.
During the visit, the commissioner also arranged for immediate medical attention for the younger brother of the late Peresuodei, who reportedly survived the attack, and coordinated care for the deceased’s ailing father. The measures include referrals and logistics to access further medical treatment and welfare support.
Family members received the delegation with visible grief, thanking the government for its show of support and for the assurances of investigation and medical assistance. Community leaders in Amassoma have urged authorities to ensure a thorough, impartial inquiry and to prosecute anyone found culpable to the full extent of the law.
As investigations proceed, the Bayelsa State Government’s public commitment to provide support to the victims’ family and to bring alleged perpetrators to justice signals intensified engagement between the state administration and security agencies in response to the violent incident.
